NAGS 2024 Awards and Scholarships

NAGS offers three types of grants and scholarships in 2024 to support research and professional development in the field of gambling:

Research Grants

$7,500

  • Supports gambling or related research projects focused on harm minimization.

  • Open to individuals and organizations.

  • Must be completed within 12 months, with progress updates and a final report required.

  • Recipients present findings at the next NAGS Annual Conference, with conference registration waived.

University 
Conference Scholarships

$2,500

  • Encourages students completing research in gambling or related fields to present their findings at the NAGS conference.

  • Covers travel and attendance expenses for the conference.

  • Open to university students (Honours, Masters, PhD) with relevant research topics.

  • Recipients present their findings at the conference with waived registration fees.

Conference Attendance Scholarships

4 x $500

  • Supports individuals interested in attending the NAGS conference for professional development.

  • Open to students, clinicians, public health workers, and others involved in gambling harm minimization.

  • Applicants must demonstrate how attendance will improve their knowledge and professional practice.

Application Process

  • Applicants must be financial members of NAGS.

  • Applications are reviewed by the NAGS Scientific Committee.

  • Deadline for applications is September 1, 2024.

  • Applications must be submitted online at nagsgrants@nags.org.au.

  • All recipients must provide a short expense report.

Student Award for Best Conference Presentation

The winner of the Student Award for Best Conference Presentation at the annual National Association for Gambling Studies Ltd (NAGS) conference will receive funding to attend a major international conference in the following year. Additionally, the European Association for the Study of Gambling (EASG) offers free registration for their annual conference.

This award aims to encourage promising students to continue their research in the field of gambling by providing opportunities to network with international colleagues, learn about new research, and present their own work to a global audience of experts. The winner will also write a report on the international conference, which will be published on the NAGS website, allowing all NAGS members to benefit from insights into new international research and expert discussions.
